Meet Our Team

 

Diane Fan

Diane Fan started learning the English language at the age of four. From elementary school all the way through college, she has won numerous awards in English-Chinese translations and public speaking. Diane attended the nationally distinguished Beijing Foreign Language School for middle school and high school. Diane later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Renmin University of China. In 2003, she moved to the US to attend one the top programs in Intercultural Communication at the University of New Mexico, where she later earned her Master’s degree. While pursuing her Master’s degree, Diane taught courses in Public Speaking and Intercultural Communication at the university. Diane specializes in Chinese to English interpretation and translation. Though a Beijing native, her English is spoken without an accent.

 

Glenn Boggs graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Chinese studies. Glen continued his studies of Chinese history, language, and culture intensively at Taiwan National Normal (Teachers’) University.

Glen has been a professional translator and interpreter for nearly 15 years. His native-speaker fluency in Chinese and firm grasp of the art of translation have made him a valuable asset to many leading corporations, such as Lexus, Nikko Securities, and Merrill Lynch. Glen has also worked on many large-scale translation projects, including the California Industrial City (CIC), one of the largest joint-effort projects between the US and China, where he served as a liaison, translator and interpreter between Chinese officials and California State officials.

Glen has worked as an adjunct professor at the Monterey Institute of International Studies Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, one of foremost institutions of its kind in the country. Glen taught graduate courses which included from translation and interpretation practices, to the techniques and methodologies of financial, economic, legal, and political translations.

Glen is currently a full-time translator and interpreter and a valuable member of Yoyo Chinese Translation team. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and English fluently.

 

Cherie Cheng

Cherie Cheng is a Chinese native from Beijing. She first enrolled in the most prestigious university in China, Beijing University, and later went to pursue her studies in Hong Kong. She graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Finance degree and has several years of work experience at a big four accounting firm in both Hong Kong and the U.S.

In addition to her business background, she has always had a strong passion for language, and has been engaging in language-related projects since college. Cherie has been actively involved in many translation and interpretation projects during the last seven years. She has provided long term on-site interpretation and document translation services for many well-known production companies, law firms and financial firms, which include Simex-Iwerks and Intrepid Capital Financial Advisory firm. Cherie has won numerous awards in English debate, including the renowned International Debate Competition held in Toronto in 2002. In addition, Cherie is a proficient writer in both Chinese and English. Her articles have been published in such newspapers and magazines as China Reader’s Digest, World Vision Magazine, Beijing Youth Daily, China Legal Times, I-Fashion Magazine. Much of Cherie’s literary work features her unique perspective and observations on the similarities and differences between Western and Chinese culture.

Currently, Cherie is a full-time translator and interpreter. She is also an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University where she teaches Chinese to MBA graduate students. She speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, and English fluently.

 

Frank Zhao

Frank Zhao graduated from the prestigious Shenyang Teacher’s University in China, where he majored in Politics and Economics. Frank did his graduate work at Jilin University in China, where he obtained his Master’s degree in TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language). His strong passion for language along with his creative approach have made him one of the most effective teachers in the field of Chinese language teaching. In 2007, Frank was invited by the Office of Chinese Language Council International and the College Board of America to teach Chinese language and culture at schools throughout Los Angeles County. It was during this period that Frank, along with three other distinguished colleagues throughout the United States, was featured in an article by the Los Angeles Times chronicling his experiences teaching Chinese in America.

Frank is well-read and has deep insights into different cultures. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences on Sino-US relationship and cross-culture communication issues. He speaks Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and English fluently.

 

Shen Shen

Shen was born in China, yet spent much of her formative years growing up in Toronto, Canada. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in commerce from University of Toronto. For the past 5 years, Shen has worked on many large-scale translation projects. As the sole independent contractor for the National Library of China, Shen was responsible for translating the library’s informational literature, brochures, visitor instructions and book synopses into English. Shen was also the hostess and interpreter for the 2008 Beijing Film Academy Short Films and Videos Festival.

Shen obtained her TESL certificate and has taught beginning, intermediate, and advanced ESL student throughout Canada and China. Her passion for the translation and interpretation profession has made her a valuable member of the Yoyo Chinese Translation team.
